10,323 Sacked Teachers holds Mahakaran Abhiyan

The sacked 10,323 teachers organized a procession along with family members and relatives towards the state secretariat to fight for reinstatement in service on Tuesday.

However, police stopped them at the north side of the Circuit House in front of the old Raj Bhawan.

Although they kept a road blockade on the VIP road for around 2 hours, they did not receive any call for a discussion from the chief minister’s office.

Therefore, teachers and their relatives retreated and organized a procession through the roads of Agartala city and shouted slogans demanding reinstatement in service and a permanent solution to their problem.

Notably, teachers were sacked due to a misinterpretation of the court order.
While speaking to reporters, the leaders of the Joint Movement Committee (JMC), heading the agitation said that according to a pre-announced schedule, a large number of sacked teachers and their relatives gathered in front of the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in the morning and the entire group marched towards the state secretariat around 12 pm.

They added that they stopped at the old Raj Bhawan and while waiting at the spot, they had sought an appointment with the chief minister through officials.
