The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (M0HUA) has carried out biggest survey in the world ever done in which more than 4500 cities across country which enrolled online on Swachh Sarvekshan Portal of the Ministry.
In a national ceremony of Swacch Sarvekshan Award- 2019 inaugurated by President Ramnath Kovind awarded two urban local bodies of the state- Sonamura and Udaipur with Swachh City awards at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi yesterday.
The President said cleanliness should be integral to the behaviour of every citizen to make it effective and sustainable. “Many people pay attention to personal hygiene but remain apathetic to public and community cleanliness. Change in this mentality was important for achieving the goals of Swachh Bharat”, he said and exhorted the educational institutions to include cleanliness in their curriculum and spread awareness about the importance of sanitation.
Sonamura Nagar Panchayat has bagged Swachh City Award for being the fastest moving city in the Northeast region and Udaipur Municipal Council secured Swachh City Award for being the best city in innovation and best practices in the North East Zone.
