On 13th May 2019, BSF received a specific information about stocking of huge quantity of Yaba tablets by a notorious smuggler namely Maful Mia, S/o Sona Mia, at his residence located at Village – Durgapur, PS Sonamura, District – Sepahijala.
Accordingly a special operation was planned by joint team of BSF troops of Border Out Post N C Nagar and Customs Officials, Agartala and raid was conducted in a residential complex of Maful Mia.
During the course of search of the House NO 51 Dogara at village Durgapur, the joint team recovered 17,000 Nos of Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 85,00,000/-, Indian Currency Rs.5,51,860/-, BD currency Taka 2,180/- and 03 Nos Mobile without SIM from the spot. However, Maful Mia managed to escape under cover and shadow of large number to womenfolk who vehemently resisted seizure of Yaba and arrest of the smuggler.
The Superintendent of Customs, DPF, Agartala has registered a case against Maful Mia under NDPS Act and also issued an arrest warrant against him.
This was the second largest consignment of Yaba Tablets seized by the BSF troops during the current year.
On earlier occasion, on 06 April, 2109 BSF troops had seized 28,000 Yaba Tablets worth Rs.1,40,00,000/-, from the area of responsibility of N C Nagar Border Out Post.
BSF has been making all-out efforts to prevent Trans-border crimes on the International Border, especially smuggling of Narcotics to make “Tripura – a Drug Free State”, but simultaneously there is a requirement of participation of every section of the society to create awareness about the Narcotic drugs among general public and help Security Forces in curbing the menace.
