BSF troops deployed on the border have been conducting operation against drug racketeers and seizing large number of drugs and arresting smugglers on regular basis.
In the wee hours of 1st June 2019, BSF troops deployed at Dipak Border Out Post under PS-Sonamura of District Sepahijala, observed a group of smugglers near Indo-Bangladesh Border Fence trying to throw some small packets over the fence from Indian side to Bangladesh side. On being challenged by the BSF troops, miscreants fled away from the spot taking advantage of darkness and close proximity of houses on Indian side.
On search of the area, troops recovered one packet containing 3000 Nos of Yaba Tablets worth Rs.15,00,000/- and 01 Kg of Ganja worth Rs.5,000/- from the spot.
BSF troops deployed on border have been putting inexorable efforts in countering smuggling activities, especially of Narcotics drugs like Yaba Tablets and Ganja. It is worth mentioning here that, for past five months from Jan to May 2019, BSF have seized more than 60 Qtls of Ganja worth Rs. 3 crores and one lakh one thousand Yaba Tablets worth more than Rs. 5 crores while they were being smuggled out to Bangladesh.
In addition to above narcotics drugs items, BSF have also been seizing Cattle, Motor Cycles, Cosmetics items, Sarees and other contraband items on daily basis.
