In a major development, the joint team of BSF and Tripura police succeeded in busting a racket of drug smuggling in Dakshin Para area of village Boxanagar under Police Station Kalamchera.
On 10 June 2019, BSF intelligence branch received a credible information about stocking of Dry Ganja and yaba Tablets in the house of one drug smuggler namely Rameez Mia (25 years) s/o Harun Rashid R/O village Dakshin Para Boxanagar.
This information was further evaluated and same was corroborated from other sources. Accordingly, the information was shared with concerned BSF field formations and an operation was planned with active participation of local police from PS Kalamchera.
As per the plan, on 11 June 2019 at about 6 AM, the joint team of BSF and local police with BSF Dog Squad reached near the target area and cordoned off the house.
The owner of the house namely Rameez Mia was informed about illegal stocking of drugs in the house and requested to cooperate with the search party. On observing BSF and police party inside his residential complex, the suspect tried to run away but he was immediately apprehended by the party.
After great resistance from the owner of the house, at about 7 AM, the joint search party from BSF and police carried out search of the house. The services of BSF sniffer dogs and other electronic gadgets were also put in to use for search operation.
A per the information provided by the source, the consignment of narcotics items were stored in the basement under concrete floor of the bed room. After hard labour of two hours, the joint search party recovered six plastic drums filled with 262 kgs of Dry Ganja worth Rs. 13,10,000. On further search of the house, party also seized one polythene bags containing 1171 Nos Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 5,85,500/- Indian currency Rs. 11,75,850/-, Bangladesh currency Tk 5,730 and 02 mobile Phones from different corners of the house. On the recovery of above mentioned contrabands items from his house, Ramiz Mia got fainted and was admitted to PHC Boxanagar by the Police party. Further, he was referred to GB Pant Hospital, Agartala and admitted there. The seized contrabands handed over to PS Kalamchera and FIR is being lodged against Ramiz Mia under NDPS Act.
