In a major development, BSF troops acting on a credible information about stocking and concealment of huge quantity of Yaba Tablets near Indo-Bangladesh Border Road in the general area of Village Bhati Kalamchera carried out special search operation. During the search of Rubber Bagan close to fencing, troops recovered 07 Polybags dumped & concealed under bushes which was meant for smuggling from India to Bangladesh side.
The BSF troops opened the Polybags and recovered another 08 packets containing 16,200 Numbers of Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 81,00,000/-, 55 Bottles of Beer worth Rs. 6,600/-, 34 Bottles of Whiskey worth Rs. 3,400/- & 07 Bottles of Eskuf Syrup worth Rs. 738.50/- from the spot. All the seized items were handed over to PS Kalamchera for further disposal.
This was the third largest consignment of Yaba Tablets seized by the BSF troops during the current year. The first largest case of seizure of Yaba Tablets was of N C Nagar Border Out Post under PS Sonamura, in which on 06 April 2019, BSF troops seized 28,000 Numbers of Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 1,40,00,000/- from a shop of spare parts of village N C Nagar. In the second instance, on 13 May 2019, BSF troops of N C Nagar Border Out Post again seized 17,000 Numbers of Yaba Tablets worth Rs.85,00,000/- from a house of one Md Maful Miah of village N C Nagar.
It is pertinent to mention here that, the area falls under PS Kalamchera and Sonamura under District Sepahijala which is the most vulnerable area of the State of Tripura in respect of the smuggling of Yaba tablets, Ganja, Phensedyl and other Codeine based cough syrup.
BSF, in coordination with other sister agencies, is taking all preventive measures to contain smuggling of drugs.
