BSF troops deployed on the border under Sector Headquarter Gokulnagar have been making relentless efforts in prevention of trans-border crimes and effecting seizure of Yaba, Ganja, cattle and other contraband items on daily basis. On 10th July 2019, BSF troops deployed at Border Out Post Srimantapur, PS Sonamura, District Sepahijala received specific information about smuggling of Yaba tablets.
Accordingly, a special operation was planned. Troops observed suspicious movement of one miscreant approaching near Indo-Bangladesh Border Fence along with some packets. On being challenged, miscreants managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness. During search of the area party recovered one small plastic bag containing 9,700 Nos of Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 48,50,000/-. Seized items handed over to PS Sonamura.
This is the fourth largest case of seizure of Yaba Tablets from the border of the Tripura State in last six months of the current year. It is worth mentioning here that BSF troops deployed at the border have seized 1,70,383 Nos of Yaba Tablets till date during this year, in the State of Tripura.
In another incident related to smuggling of Cattle, on 10 July 2019, BSF troops of Border Out Post Kamthana, PS Kalamchera, District Sepahijala received specific information regarding stocking of herd of cattle in jungle area near village Putia and same was meant for smuggling purpose. Accordingly, BSF troops on duty carried out special operation and seized 43 Nos of Cattle worth Rs. 2,95,000/- in the presence of independent witnesses. The seized cattle handed over to PS Kalamchera for further legal action.
