Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the tone for the political narrative over the next five years of the second term of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). In his over 90-minute speech from the ramparts of Red Fort on the 73rd Independence Day, Modi said that the people should come together to solve challenges facing the country.
In his sixth Independence Day speech, Prime Minister said that there should be a nationwide debate on the issue of one nation, one poll and there should be a concerted effort to deal with the problem of population explosion in the country.
“One nation, one poll is a discussion going on in the country. There should be democratic discussion in the country,” said Modi in his speech on Thursday.
Touching upon the contentious issue of population explosion, Modi said that state governments and the Centre should work together to create awareness. He said that there is a section in the country which understands the need for smaller families and such people should be promoted because they are doing national duty by consciously deciding to have smaller families.
