Central Executive Committee of Students’ Federation of India strongly condemns yet another move by the NDA government to practice discrimination on the basis of language they have initiated with the All India Joint Entrance Exam(Mains). According to the notification the question paper will be set in only three languages -English, Hindi and Gujarati. Applicants are asks to choose one of these languages while filling the application. The selection of these three languages have neither legal nor logical ground to back it’s selection, but only a political agenda to carry on.
The authorities have not clarified the reason behind choosing only these three language to set up the question paper while Students from various linguistic backgrounds are applying for the exam. Bengal has twice, Maharashtra has thrice the number of examinees than that of Gujarat. Majority of the total applicants are having non-Hindi languages as their mother tongue. This is nothing less than an attack on the constitution itself when it guarantees no discrimination on the basis of language or region. Earlier also there were multiple attempts by the Modi regime to discriminate people on the basis of language. Even they have made attempts to carry it through the New Education Policy, though it was withdrawn later following a huge protest by the people across the country.
Policy of regional Discrimination must be scrapped and people of all language backgrounds must be treated equally. SFI demand immediate withdrawal of the discriminatory clause from the application notification and application form of JEE main exam. We warn the authorities a huge protest across the country against the exam patern if they are scraping it without delay. SFI also appeals all democratic sections to voice up against the federal principles of the constitution and the diversity of the country.
