The Chief Minister said that he want Tripura to achieve first position in Tourism as well as Health sector since the state government initiated several plans for massive reforms in both the fields, of Tourism and Healthcare.
The Chief Minister said that Dr. Pratap Chandra Reddy, chairman of private-run Apollo Hospitals Group, would be visiting Tripura and meet him tomorrow to discuss state government’s proposal on setting up of Apollo-like hospital here.
The Chief Minister said that during his recent visit to Delhi he had requested Hon’ble Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare- Dr. Harsh Vardhan so that Apollo Group opens a hospital in Tripura.
“The Union Health Minister on the basis of my request contacted the Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group- Dr. Pratap Chandra Reddy.
Being apprised about the proposal, Dr. Reddy agreed to visit Tripura on December 2 for holding discussions on the same. If necessary, the state government is ready to provide land,” Deb told the gathering.
Referring to this, the Chief Minister said the proposal, if accepted, would open huge employment opportunities besides generating revenue because, a good number of patients from Bangladesh would also be visiting the state if Apollo-like hospital is set up here, Deb said.
On behalf of the association, a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh was handed over to Shri Biplab Kumar Deb for Chief Minister’s relief fund.
As part of his visit to AGMC and GBP hospital, the Chief Minister also joined a plantation drive.
MLA- Dr. Dilip Das, Secretary to Health and Family Welfare- Dr. Debasis Basu and Health Director along with Principal of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC)- Prof. K.K. Kundu were also present in the conference.
