Chief Minister Shri Biplab Kumar Deb today said that Tripura’s economy is in good shape and which can be well established from the increased tax revenue collection by the government.
“The economic slowdown is not the problem in our country only— it’s a global issue. But still, Tripura is going through a noticeable growth in economy,” he said.
“The Left party talks big and criticizes the role of present government on fund crisis whereas the tax revenue collection in the state was only 8.9 percent during the Left era. But after formation of BJP-IPFT government, it has increased to 26 percent in only two years.”
“Big talks doesn’t suit the Leftists, they only misguide the people saying that the economic condition in Tripura in poor shape”, he added.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister stated this while addressing the 36th Annual State Conference of All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association at KLS Auditorium in AGMC and GBP hospital today.
Referring state’s current financial status, Deb said, “before review of the pay-scale, the state government required Rs. 433 crore per month for salary and pension of the employees. Now, the amount has increased to around Rs. 780 crore per month. It will cost around Rs. 46,800 crore for five years.”
“Payment of such large amount would not have been possible without double-engine government and, I am happy to share that the Centre sanctioned additional Rs. 2427 crore for Tripura which was not included in the budget.
It has been possible just because of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special affection towards Tripura,” the Chief Minister claimed.
Sri Deb today strongly criticized the Left Front on their demand for withdrawing the Rs 600 PWD scam case against former Left Minister Badal Choudhury, who is now behind the bars in connection with huge financial irregularities committed by him during his tenure as PWD Minister.
“The case is now under the proceedings of the court. When I noticed the financial irregularities, the matter was sent to Vigilance department but, the former Minister was absconding. If he was not guilty why was he absconding?” the Chief Minister asked.
He clearly stated that the employees and common people had to face deprivation in many cases just because of the corruption committed in the Left Front era.
He further said that the first political murder of Tripura had started after the formation of Left Front government and not during the era of Sachindralal Singha or Sukhamoy Sengupta.
Deb said that he would continue to fight so that the Left party does not come to power again because they don’t understand the meaning of development.
Addressing the doctors and medical staff, the Chief Minister laid stress on discharging their duties with positivity. He also encouraged the doctors to attend their patients sincerely.
“I am well aware of the requirements and demands of the Doctors which are yet to be provided. I urge the Doctors to work with positivity, the state government is committed towards fulfilling the necessities including 7th Pay commission,” Deb added.
