BSF SEIZES 4,800 YABA TABLETS WORTH RS. 24 LAKHS
Border Security Force in continuous endeavors to make ‘Tripura State – A Drug Free State’ is conducting Special Operations to seize Narcotic drugs from time to time. In series of such operations, on 28th December 2019, acting on specific intelligence input about smuggling of narcotics from India to Bangladesh, BSF troops deployed at Border Outpost Srimantapur under PS Sonamura laid a special ambush during night hours in the area in close vicinity of International Border.
During ambush, they observed suspicious activities of some miscreants approaching the Indo-Bangladesh Border Fence for nefarious smuggling attempt. On being challenged by the BSF party, the smugglers did not pay any heed and continued their illegal activity. Sensing the graveness of the situation, BSF troops resorted to fire of Non-lethal weapon resulting in dispersal of smugglers from the area. During thorough search of the area, troops recovered and seized 4,800 Yaba tablets worth Rs. 24,00,000/-. Seized Yaba tablets were handed over to PS Sonamura.
Besides above operational achievement, BSF troops deployed on Indo Bangladesh border in Tripura, also succeeded in seizing contraband items i.e. 155 bottles of Phensedyl, 04 kg Ganja, 02 cattle and other miscellaneous items having total market value of Rs. 73,342/- along with Bangladeshi Taka 95,400/- on same date.
