Tripura state Cabinet has decided to send proposal for announcing Unokoti as ‘World Heritage Site’.
Minister Ratan Lal Nath informed this while addressing a press conference. He added in his statement that the state Cabinet has approved the proposal on Tuesday.
He also informed that the council of ministers adopted tourism policy in the State designed by the state government to promote Tripura globally.
According to Minister Ratan Lal Nath, the number of tourists is increasing in Tripura.
He claimed a total of 4, 83, 477 tourists including foreign nationals visited Tripura in 2017-18 and 5, 23, 579 tourists in 2018-19.
The minister also said, the State Government laid maximum priority on border tourism, heritage tourism ,tea tourism, and religious tourism.
He said that the State Government has a plan to earn Rs 1,000 crore from the tourism industry in Tripura.
