Hon’ble Chief Minister had met the Hon’ble Union Ministers of Railways & Commerce & Industry , Petroleum, Rural Development and Agriculture and Home during his visit to Delhi, on 6th and 7th Februay,2020.
Railways and Industry and Commerce:-
Hon’ble Chief Minister called on the Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways and Commerce & Industry. The Hon’ble Union Minister assured that Railways would take urgent steps to provide new DEMU Racks and strengthen the mechanical workshop of Railways in Tripura to ensure smooth functioning of DEMU trains in Tripura. He also agreed to the suggestion that Deoghar Express schedule would be modified in a manner to facilitate Pilgrims by reducing their return trip days. He also appreciated and agreed to suggestion for attaching Green Bogie Service for fruits and Vegetable in Kanchenjunga Express.
Petroleum and Natural Gas:-
He requested the Hon’ble Union Minister that the Ministry may consider additional allocation of 1,17,800 SCMD of Natural Gas in the existing Geographical Areas (Gas). It was also requested that more GAs in Tripura may be included in the upcoming bidding process. The Hon’ble Union Minister assured that the Ministry would extend all cooperation for making Tripura into India’s 1st Gas based economy State. The Ministry is also in the process of expanding the coverage of City Gas Distribution Network to cover whole of Tripura. Presently only West and Gomati Districts are covered under CGD Network. The Hon’ble Union Minister also informed that the Government of India has already approved the North East Gas Grid Project to be implemented by Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited. The total length of the pipeline is planned to be 1,656 km and will be built at estimated cost of Rs. 9,265 crore. It will cover eight states of the North-Eastern region i.e., Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. IGGL will enhance availability of natural gas in North East and ensure uninterrupted supply of natural gas to industries, domestic consumers and for transport purposes to establish a clean fuel led economy. This would also enhance the revenue earning of Tripura, it being a major source of gas in the North-East.
The Hon’ble Union Minister for Rural Development assured that the balance sanctioned funds of about Rs. 570 crore under MGNREGA for the current year would be released and the advance of Rs.100 crore given by the State Government would also be reimbursed. The Ministry would also consider permitting Pineapple and Dragon fruit plantations under MGNREGA, as it would help small and poor farmers specially the Forest Rights patta holders. He appreciated the suggestion for making NREGA funds readily available on the eve of festive seasons to help poor beneficiaries. He assured that the proposal for inclusion of beneficiaries with GCI sheet(tin) roof under PMAY housing scheme was under active consideration of the Ministry and was expected to be approved shortly.
Hon’ble Chief Minister also called upon the Hon’ble Union Home Minister and issues pertaining to re-settlement of Bru community and border security were discussed.
