Tripura Youth Congress organized a massive Yuva Akrosh Rally and public gathering at Manu market in Dhalai district on Saturday to voice protest against the BJP-led central government’s anti-people policies like Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens and the National Population Register.
Indian Youth Congress National President Shri Srinivas B.V. attended a massive ‘Yuva Akrosh Rally’ to save the Constitution and register protest against BJP’s divisive strategies of Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens and the National Population Register revision.
While speaking to a massive audience in the public gathering, Shri Srinivas B.V. cited the Congress party’s contributions to develop Tripura by extending Constitutional provisions for an autonomous district council in this state, sign the TNV Peace Accord in 1988 among other issues. He accused the BJP-led central government of betraying people of the country by promising them crores of jobs, only to later suggesting them to set up pakoda shops, and unleashing terror on students at Jamia Millia Islamia University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and other academic institutions across the country.
He said anybody opposing BJP is being branded anti-national, something that is intrinsically against the ethos of this great country. On CAA, NRC etc, Shri Srinivas B.V. advised people not to show their papers. Indians were given this great Constitution by Dr.B.R. Ambedkar, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi and others and they do not need to show papers to prove their citizenship, he said.
He termed CPI (M) as a spent force and expressed confidence that the Congress party will come back to power across the country including Tripura. Shri. Srinivas appealed people of Tripura to vote for Congress in all elections including forthcoming local body elections in TTAADC.
Tripura Pradesh Congress president Shri. Pijush Kanti Biswas, in his speech, said BJP doesn’t have organizational presence over 2 percent in Tripura and stated that a huge number of erstwhile Congress supporters, who could not trust Congress to be capable of overthrowing the Communists from power, reposed faith in BJP, resulting in the party’s swelled supporter base. But with BJP’s track record since last 23 months, Shri Biswas said people of this state don’t want BJP to stay in power for even one additional day.
Tripura Youth Congress president Shri Pujan Biswas appealed everyone to work together and ensure return of Congress in power and revive its organization.
Shri Baptu Chakraborty said erstwhile Communists identified themselves as goat’s offsprings while ruling BJP is too busy propagating cow philosophy. He said people of Tripura want neither goats nor cattle; they want human beings with proper ideology to govern this state and appealed people to support Congress.
Congress leaders including former MLA Rajeswar Debbarma, Purnita Chakma, Prasenjit Das and others joined the rally today.
