Border Security Force in its continuous efforts toward curbing the menace of Narcotic Drugs in the State have successfully succeeded in seizing 2,429 numbers of Yaba Tablets having market value of Rs. 12,14,500/- in two different operations.
In the first operation, on 20 Feb 2020, acting on specific intelligence inputs, troops of Border Out Post Pathridwar laid a special ambush in border area, during which they observed suspicious movement of some miscreants, approaching IBB Fence.
On being challenged by BSF party, the miscreants fled away from the spot towards India side taking advantage of darkness and undulating ground. The area was subjected to through search, leading to recovery of Yaba Tablets – 1,979 Nos worth Rs 9,89,500/-. Seized Yaba tablets handed over to Customs, Agartala.
During another operation, on same night troops of Border Outpost Chanderpur observed one miscreant approaching the IBB Fence with some packets. On being challenged by BSF troops, miscreant fled away from the spot taking advantage of darkness and undulating ground. During search of the area, BSF party recovered Yaba tablets – 450 Nos worth Rs. 2, 25,000/- and Ganja 02 Kgs worth Rs 10,000/-. Seized items were handed over to PS Jatrapur.
Besides above, BSF troops deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura have also succeeded in seizing other contrabands items having combined market value of Rs. 7,60,160/- on the same day.
