CM chairs SLBC meet, urges banks to come forward for state’s development
Agartala, Feb 20: The 131st State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) meet was held on Tuesday with the aim of strengthening the financial position of the state.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb chaired the meeting and urged the banks to become more public-oriented to make the state self-sufficient.
The SLBC meeting was held today at Prajna Bhavan.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized so that banks play positive role in making the farmers self-sufficient, providing education loans.
Later, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that the meeting discussed the ways to strengthen the economy of the state. He stressed on providing Kisan Credit Card Loans in simple manner. The Chief Minister said about 2.12 lakh farmers have applied for this.
The Chief Minister also sought cooperation of various banks in increasing the production of fish and strengthening animal husbandry sector.
He said that in this regard, the banks should take necessary initiatives in line with the state government’s vision.
The Chief Minister said that crores of money remain in the state as a result of the fish seeds cultivation and animals raring and the government believes that it would boost the economy of the entire state.
He also advised banks to come forward to provide loans in education. A total of 530 students have been given education loans.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that those who are continuing study by taking loans would become successful. Earlier, many students were deprived of the education loans due to the complexity in the process. However, the problem is not there now, he said.
Finally, the Chief Minister hoped that the issues discussed at the SLBC meeting today would be solved within a certain time next year and it would play an important role in strengthening Tripura’s financial position.
The Chief Minister also urged the banks to increase CD ratio and control NPA.
