Border Security Force in its continuous effort towards maintaining peace and tranquility along the International Boundary and curbing the menace Trans-border smuggling, particularly of Narcotic drugs succeeded in seizing Yaba Tablets 8,000 Nos having market value of Rs 40 Lakhs in two different operations.
In the first operation, during the wee hours of 24 Feb 2020, acting on specific intelligence inputs, troops of Border Out Post Lankamura under PS & District West Tripura, observed suspicious movement of a miscreant, who was trying to throw plastic bags over the IBB Fence.
On being challenged by the BSF party, the miscreant fled away from the spot towards India side taking advantage of darkness. During thorough search of the area, 03 plastic bags containing Yaba Tablets- 6,000 Nos worth Rs 30,00,000/- were recovered. Seized Yaba tablets were handed over to Excise Agartala.
In an another operation, during dawn hours of 24 Feb 2020, BSF troops and Police on ICP Security duty at Agartala Check Post, while frisking of a passenger near Departure Gate recovered Yaba Tablets- 2,000 Nos worth Rs 10,00,000/- from his possession. During preliminary questioning, he reveled his identity as Ramu Saha, S/o late Mahindra Saha, R/o village Dhaleswar, district west Tripura. Apprehended person along with Seized items were handed over to P S West Agartala.
Besides above, during intervening night of 24/25 Feb 2019, BSF troops deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura, also succeeded in seizing other contraband items having combined market value of Rs 3, 06,968 /-.
