BSF in its continuous efforts toward maintaining peace and tranquility along the International Boundary is also curbing the menace of trans-border smuggling particularly of Narcotics Drugs in Tripura State. On intervening night of 28-29 Feb 2020, BSF troops in different operations, succeeded in seizing Yaba Tablets 1,810 Nos having market value of Rs. 9,05,000/- and other contraband items having combined market value of Rs. 2, 72,203/-, making the total value of seizure to Rs. 11, 77,203/-.
In one of the operations, acting on specific intelligence input, troops of Border Out Post Srimantapur, District Sepahijala laid a special ambush in border area on 28 Feb 2020.
Ambush party on observing the suspicious movement of some miscreants, challenged them to stop their illegal activities. But, miscreants were reluctant and continued with their nefarious attempt of smuggling. Then, BSF troops resorted to the firing by Non-lethal weapon, resulting to which, miscreants fled from the spot. During thorough search of the area, BSF party recovered Yaba Tablets – 1,400 Nos worth Rs 7,02,500/- and 25 Nos Beer Canes worth Rs 2,500/-. Seized items were handed over to PS Sonamura.
In another operation, on same night, troops of Border Outpost Nischintpur, District West Tripura observed one miscreant approaching IBB Fence. On being challenged by BSF party, miscreant fled away from the spot taking advantage of darkness and thick vegetation. During search of the area, party recovered 02 packets containing Yaba Tablets – 410 Nos worth Rs 2,05,000/-. Seized drugs were handed over to Excise Agartala.
