Border Security Force, while maintaining peace and tranquility along the International Boundary, has also been curbing the menace of trans-border smuggling of contraband items by conducting various operations in border areas.
In series of such operations, on intervening night of 29/01 March 2020, BSF troops in different operations, succeeded in seizing Yaba Tablets 2,000 Nos having market value of Rs.10,00,000/-, Ganja 92 Kgs worth Rs 7,82,000/-and other contraband items having combined market value of Rs. 8,13,035/-. The total value of seizure was Rs. 25, 95,035/-.
In one of the operations, on 29 Feb 2020 acting on specific intelligence input, Ops party of Border Out Post Rangna, District North Tripura apprehended two Indian nationals in BSF Uniform namely Alam Mia S/o Shah Alam Miah, R/o village Thakur Mura, Khedabari, District Sepahijala, Tripura and Jhutan Bhowmik S/o Dilip Bhowmik, R/o village Melaghar, District Sepahijala, Tripura along with a Green colour Maruti Gypsy bearing No. GJ G 2202, near Kadamtala market, North Tripura. The two apprehended person were in possession of fake BSF Identity cards. During thorough search of the vehicle, BSF party recovered 92 Kgs of Ganja worth Rs 7,82,000/-, Eskuff Syrup 03 bottles, Niramin Syrup 02 bottles, Tiger energy drink 02 bottles and Indian currency Rs7,355/-. Total value of Seized items including the vehicle is Rs 9, 89,808/-. Apprehended persons along with seized items were handed over to PS Kadamtala for further legal action.
In another operation, the same night, a vehicle patrolling party of Border Out Post Boxanagar, District Sepahijala observed suspicious movement of a Motorcycle on Border road. On being challenged by BSF party, miscreant fled away from the spot leaving the Motorcycle behind. On thorough search 02 packets, containing 2000 numbers of Yaba Tablets valued at Rs 10,00,000/-, 01 Bajaj Pulsar Motorcycle worth Rs 90,000/- and one Samsung mobile phone worth Rs 10,000/- was recovered from the spot. Total value of Seized items amounted to Rs 11, 00,000/-. Seized items have been handed over to PS Kalamchera.
Besides above, giving major jolt to drug peddlers in the state of Tripura, on dated 1st March 2020, BSF intelligence branch received an specific information regarding a huge consignment of Yaba tablets coming from Assam State to Sonamura border by a civil vehicle. The information was further developed and shared with SDPO Bishalgarh.
