CM launches historic drive to build 127 km village roads in 72 hours
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched a historic drive to construct 127 km brick soling village roads in just 72 hours in a single district.
Under this mission mode project all total 440 brick soling roads would be constructed under MGNREGA and FFC in West Tripura district.
“127 km brick soling roads will be built in just three days with generation of 1.50 lakh mandays under MGNREGA and which along with employment is also creating permanent asset,” the Chief Minister told the gathering after launching the drive at Bhagalpur Gram Panchayat under Bamutia Block.
“Construction of 127 km roads and generation of 1.50 lakh persondays in only 72 hours—both are going to set a record in Tripura,” he said.
Speaking to Media, the Chief Minister said many of the small villages across Tripura are yet to have road access. Keeping this view in mind, the state government initiated this historic drive from West Tripura and the remaining districts would also be covered under such mission mode, he said.
“During the tenure of previous government, MGNREGA was mainly used politically and for luring cardholders before party rallies. But, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the present state government believe in asset creation,” the CM said adding, “The villagers who were deprived of the road facility for long are now happy to have road access in front of their houses– the initiative, I believe, will connect the villagers with development and send a strong message among the rural people,” he added.
When asked why for long there was no proper roads especially in the tribal prone ADC areas the CM viewed, “Both the state and the ADC were ruled by the same party for a long period. The development works which are being implemented today should have been done by the then double-engine government but was neglected.”
He added that the BJP-IPFT government believes in saabh ke saath, saabh ka biswas with time bound action in order to transform Tripura into a model state.
Referring to the Bru settlement issue, Deb said, “I thank the 37 lakh people of Tripura for accepting the permanent rehabilitation of Bru people in our state. The state government has made necessary arrangements for rehabilitation of around 35,000 people of nearly 4500 families at various locations with a package of Rs. 600 crore and which was possible only because of the determination and love of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Addressing the people who assembled in the ground to witness the historic moment, the Chief Minister said the roads which are being built in the drive would go to Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana and then blacktop road would be constructed.
“The State Government has set target to provide Ayushman Bharat e-cards to 20.56 lakh people and already achieved 75 percent of its target. Besides, efforts are on to achieve 100 percent success in various flagship programmes and schemes by 31st March, next,” the Chief Minister told the gathering.
“Under Atal Jaldhara Mission, the state government will ensure free water connection to every household by December 2020,” he said.
“Works of Rs. 8600 crore will be implemented in Tripura under National Highway projects and already Rs. 1200 crore has been sanctioned in one year and the tender has also been called,” he said.
The government is implementing various works of road maintenance, infrastructure development, waterways connectivity, Agartala Smart City Mission and Feni bridge project.
“Under Smart City Mission, CCTVs are being installed in various locations so that the crime rate comes down. After completion of Feni Bridge project, we will have direct access to Chittagong Port in Bangladesh,” he said.
“In 2017, there was only 29-33 mandays generation in Tripura on an average and at present it has reached to 56 mandays,” he said.
“In today’s scenario the asset creation under MGNREGA is taking place. If I ask about the locations of the ponds created under MGNREGA during the tenure of LF government, they will say that Biplab Kumar Deb is trying to send the then leaders to jail. They exploited the people for long 25 years. They not only fooled the people but also betrayed them,” he said.
“The previous government didn’t develop the roads even in plain lands. They used to think, if people walk on blacktop roads, they will not go to party rallies. The roads which are being built today could have been done 10 or 20 years ago,” he said.
The Chief Minister claimed that his government is working with a positive mindset and maintaining transparency everywhere for overall development of Tripura.
The Chief Minister also spoke on the e-services introduced by the new government in various sectors during the past 24 months to bring transparency in all sectors.
He also assured the people of Bamutia that the state government would provide all possible assistance for development of the region. He asked local MLA Krishnadhan Das who also attended the programme, to submit a proposal on the initiatives that can be taken under various schemes of state and central governments for development of Bamutia.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma and DM West Tripura Dr. Sandeep N. Mahatme among others were also present in the programme.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also visited Birmohan ADC Village under Lefunga R.D. Block to inaugurate more roads and interacted with the local people and also heard about their problems.
