Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today said that no case of corona virus infection (Covid-19) was reported in the state so far and the state government was closely monitoring the situation.
While appealing the citizens of the state not to pay attention on any kind of rumor, the Chief Minister said that ‘there was nothing to panic’.
“Several medical teams have already been placed at various entry points like Airport, Railway stations and Check Posts for screening of travelers. Besides, there are arrangements of special isolation wards at GBP and TMC hospitals,” he said.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat this evening, the Chief Minister said provision of Epidemic Disease Act- 1987 was enforced in Tripura so that any measure can be taken at any place to prevent the spread of Corona virus. He said that the Act was enforced to make emergency services by doctors and medical staff mandatory if any such situation arises. He also said that all the District Magistrates (DMs) were put on alert.
The border has been sealed except Akhaura Integrated Check post. Special teams have been formed in the state since January 28.
In Tripura, altogether 37 people were screened. They were under observation in the isolation ward of GB Hospital. In the report, all 37 cases were found to be negative, the Chief Minister told the media.
He also cautioned the people saying that any kind of attempt to spread rumour would merely invite legal action. He also appealed to all to visit nearest healthcare institutions in case of any symptom like cold cough and fever. Addressing the media, the Chief Minister also said that leaflets having awareness notes on the preventive measures in local language would be distributed in various parts of the state to raise awareness among the citizens.
