Good news! India’s oldest COVID-19 survivor, 93-year old man, and his wife discharged from a government hospital in Kottayam after recovery.

A 93-year old man, India”s oldest COVID-19 survivor, and his wife were discharged from the government Medical College Hospital here on Friday, days after they fully recovered, in what is being dubbed by the medical community as a “miracle cure”, officials said. 

All five members in the family are now completely cured of Covid-19.

The husband and wife, 93-year-old and 88-year-old respectively, were being treated at the Kottayam Medical College. They were infected by their son and his family who had returned from Italy during the last week of February.

Globally, Covid-19 patients above the age of 60 are generally categorized as “high-risk”.

However, the doctors and staff at the Kottayam Medical College managed to save the couple’s life. Along with the seven-member team of doctors who led the treatment, 40 medical staff, including 25 nurses actively took part in various stages of treatment.
