In addition to the primary task of safeguarding International Boundary, BSF has always been extending helping hand to the deprived people of remote bordering areas.
With a view to reduce their sufferings and to generate sense of belongingness at the time of acute hardship to fight against COVID-19, BSF troops have been conducting various outreach programmes in border areas.
Amid fear, desperation and subsequent nationwide lockdown imposed due to outbreak of COVID – 19, in an endeavor towards discharging social responsibility, 130 Battalion Border Security Force conducted a Civic Action Programme on 9th April 2020 at border Village G K Para, Block – Rajnagar, PS- P R Bari, Sub-Division Belonia, Distt- South Tripura, to help the people residing in extreme territorial limits of the country so that they feel safe, connected and protected.
During the course of above Civic Action Programme, grocery items to 112 families, Facemasks to 116 persons and medicines to 65 persons were distributed. Thus, a total of 300 people were benefited from the programme. In addition to above, awareness regarding symptoms of the disease and its preventive measures with the help of Laud Hailer, Pamphlets and Banners was also done.
Throughout the program BSF medical team and troops followed the basic principle of social distancing, frequent sanitizing and wearing of face masks.
The response of the populace was overwhelming, which was appreciated by all and sundry.
