Ten arrested from Rajnagar area of Joypur, close to the Indo-Bangla border. They had crossed the international border with the help of some passing-agent seven months ago.
Altogether 10 Bangladeshi nationals who started their journey with an aim to cross the India-Bangladesh border were detained from Rajanagar today.
According to sources, all of them are construction laborers and entered India illegally six months back and were stranded here because of lockdown.
No valid documents were recovered from them.
Because of lack of work the workers were on their way back to Bangladesh illegally in exchange of Rs2000.
Police is further investigating the case.
Director General of Tripura Police Rajiv Singh said it has been ascertained during investigation they had indeed come 6-7 months back inside the Indian territory. They would be produced before the court as per protocol.
