Locals near the Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel came out to the street in protest against the Government decision, fearing the spread of the virus among the common people the locals demanded to shift the COVID 19 health centre.
People protesting have said that as the hostel is in a residential area, the government is risking the lives of many by bringing in COVID-19 patients there.
The Tripura government decided to convert the Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel into a COVID-19 care centre after a spike in the number of cases was reported from the state.
As per reports, locals came out to the street today morning after 27 COVID-19 patients were shifted there.
As the situation turned chaotic, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The police also had to resort to lathi-charge to control the situation.
