Amidst the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic, BSF troops are putting relentless efforts to eradicate the menace of Narcotic smuggling from the State of Tripura by conducting special operations.
In series of such operations, on 25th May 2020, BSF troops succeeded in seizing 20 Kgs Ganja and 275 Bottles of Phensedyl having combined market value of Rs 1, 42,424/-.
Acting on a specific intelligence input, during wee hours of 25 May 2020, BSF Ambush party of Border Out Post Nirbhoypur under PS Jatrapur, Dist Sepahijala observed some miscreants with head load approaching the Indo–Bangladesh Border Fence.
BSF party challenged the group of smugglers but they didn’t pay any heed. Sensing the graveness of the situation, BSF troops resorted to fire of Non-Lethal weapon due to which, miscreants fled away from the spot leaving behind their head load of the consignment.
During thorough search of the area, BSF party recovered Ganja – 20 Kgs and Phensedyl – 275 Bottles from the area. Seized Narcotics were handed over to PS Jatrapur.
Beside above, BSF troops deployed on Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura, also succeeded in seizing other miscellaneous items having market value of Rs. 7,500/- on the same night.
