The total number of coronavirus cases in the country increased to 161,000. Maharashtra saw an explosion of fresh cases while Delhi recorded its biggest spike in COVID-19 tally in last 24 hours.
The death toll in India continued to surge.
Total number of cases now stand at 1,65,799 including 71,105 who have recovered and 4,706 deaths. The number of active cases is at 89,987.
India added nearly 7,500 fresh cases of infections over one day. Authorities reported 7,466 new cases, 3,414 recoveries and 175 deaths in the 24 hours preceding the Health Ministry’s update at 8 a.m. on May 29

At least 175 deaths were registered on Thursday, the third highest number of deaths in a single day.
The number of fatalities due to coronavirus infection climbed to 4,706.
Two more persons have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has said.
1050 samples have been tested yesterday for COVID-19, out of which 2 people detected POSITIVE.
Both of them have returned from Maharashtra.
As of now, total 244 positive cases confirmed in the state and 167 patients have already recovered. Three persons have been migrated and the number of active cases now stands at 74
