All returning from other parts with skills are asset of Tripura, says CM

CM visits various parts in Sepahijala, reviews quarantine status, administrative works

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb paid visits to several parts of Sepahijala district on Friday to take stock of latest COVID19 situation, quarantine status and administrative works.

As part of his visit, the Chief Minister inspected various facility quarantine centres and also checked the ground reality regarding the home quarantine.

While visiting various areas, the Chief Minister had interactions with the officials concerned and health staff.

He also inquired whether the beneficiaries are receiving all assistance declared by the Centre and State governments in view of the COVID19 pandemic.

Speaking to media, the Chief Minister said, “The best part is that the people even at village level are alert on novel coronavirus and are properly obeying the social distancing and other norms spontaneously.”

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has taken strong exception against a gas agency of Sonamura for its negligence in home delivery of gas cylinders to beneficiaries under Ujjwala Yojana.

“According to report, this gas agency doesn’t provide home delivery of cylinders to beneficiaries. As a result, the people have to stand in long queues in front of the agency for getting cylinders,” the Chief Minister said.

“Despite written communications from SDM and BDO, the said gas agency didn’t follow the directives. The state government will take stern action in this regard,” he said.

“There are 2.75 lakh beneficiaries under Ujjwala Yojana in Tripura. They were suppose to get total Rs. 2850 in three instalments (Rs. 950 each) as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I repeatedly said that the second and third instalments will not be given if anybody fails to get the first one. But, some people didn’t get the benefit due to the negligence. The Government will take stern action against whoever is responsible for this,” he said.

In the sideline of his visit to Sepahijala district, the Chief Minister also said that the state government was contemplating a plan to utilize the skills of the people those returning from other states.

“They are returning with skills and are assets of our state. Prime Minister Narendra has already introduced a scheme and sanctioned fund for such people so that they can be trained through skill development mission as per their skills,” the Chief Minister said adding that the state government had already granted permission for multiple cinema halls where the returnees can be engaged after training.

Apart from this, the Centre has also introduced scheme for the workers and so that they may get house under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana.

In this context, the Chief Minister has also appealed to all returnees to spontaneously avail the scheme announced by the Centre.

He said, “We shall definitely win the fight against COVID19. But we have to overcome the economic challenges after the COVID19 situation. I believe, it will not be so difficult with cooperation from the people.”

The spots those the Chief Minister paid visits on Friday included Purba Chandigar Gram Panchayat, Jagatrampur ADC Village and Dhanpur Primary Healthcare center under Dhanpur constituency, Gakulnagar, Srimantapaur Gram Panchayat and healthcare centre in Sonamura sub-division, Manikyanagar HS School (quarantine center) in Boxanagar, Madhupur Primary Healthcare Center and Gakulnagar in Bishalgarh sub-division.

The Chief Minister chaired a review meeting at Charilam R.D. Block in presence of the Deputy Chief Minister, MP West Tripura and other officials.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister had detailed discussion on various matters like quarantine status and the government assistance received the local people.
