The nationwide tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases crossed the two lakh mark on Tuesday with almost a lakh testing positive for the dreaded virus infection in the last 15 days. The government, however, said its preventive measures to contain the disease have been very effective, as shown by a much lower fatality rate than several other countries.
Confirmed COVID-19 cases in India stand at 2,07,615. The death toll from the outbreak in India is at 5,815.

In past 24 hours, 8909 fresh cases and 217 deaths were reported. The Health Ministry said that there were 101497 active covid cases in the country while 100302 have recovered.
