Tripura making progress in industry sector: CM

After inspecting corona prevention measures and quarantine status in various rural areas, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has on Thursday held an important meeting with the senior officials of various departments.
He held threadbare discussions with the officials of Home, Prison, Fire Service and Civil Defense departments on various important matters.


The Chief Minister has reviewed the latest law and order situation in the state and the steps taken by the concerned departments to deal with any eventuality.


At the same time, he took stock of the activities under Industries and Commerce, Urban Development, PWD, DWS, General Administration departments and Smart City Project.
After the meeting, the Chief Minister said the state is making progress in industry sector. The state government is working with emphasis on setting up new industries.


Under Tripura Industrial Promotion Incentive Scheme, total Rs. 17.93 crore has been sanctioned in 2018-19 and Rs. 29.23 crore in 2019-20.


In 2018-19 land/ industrial shed is allotted to 18 industries with investment potential of Rs. 85 crore and in 2019-20, total 31 Units have been allotted land at different industrial estates with investment potentials of Rs. 106 cr.


The Chief Minister also said on his social media handle that new industries will provide employment to the youths and also generate revenue in return. While assuring total support to all entrepreneurs, the Chief Minister appealed the youths to come forwards and take initiatives in this field.

Meanwhile, under PM Kisan Sampada Yojana, four new food processing units have been approved for Tripura and Rs. 35.28 crore would be invested in such projects. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries has approved 50 percent subsidy for the newly approved units based on the recommendation of state government which would benefit the people of state to a great extent.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister on his social media handle has shared another important input- Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has decided to outsource 16 cafeterias so that the returnees, who were working in Hotel and Restaurants in other states and lost their jobs following the COVID19 lockdown, can get source of income within the state.
