Along with others, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has also observed World Environment Day by taking part in a tree plantation drive at Secretariat complex on Friday.
Meanwhile, an appeal of the Chief Minister for planting trees has received massive response and it has been seen on the social media platform.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister through his social media handle had appealed the people to plant trees to mark World Environment Day and upload the pictures on their profiles with #TripuraCares4Environment.
Responding to the Chief Minister’s appeal, around one lakh people including youngsters, eminent personalities, political figures and elected public representatives, bureaucrats, have joined the tree plantation drive across the state on Friday and many of them uploaded their pictures on social media while planting the saplings.
The Chief Minister has appreciated such efforts and also gave replies to a many people encouraging them to take care of the planted trees and keep the environment healthy.
Meanwhile, after planting a sapling at Secretariat Complex, the Chief Minister said, “such programmes like plantation drive bring awareness among the people to great extent and help change mentality of the people for a pollution free environment.”
“It’s our responsibility to keep the environment free of pollution– we will get sufficient oxygen when the environment is pollution free. We are lucky that the environment in North Eastern states is pollution free as compared to other parts,” the Chief Minister said adding that he World Environment Day is celebrated on June 05 every year to raise mass awareness across the globe.
