With India reporting 9,985 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the total number of infections crossed the 2.7 lakh-mark to reach 2,76,583 on Wednesday, including 7,745 deaths and 1,35,205 people who have been treated and discharged so far.
According to the data on the health ministry website, the number of recoveries crossed the number of active cases in the country by 1,573 on Wednesday.
The number of deaths from coronavirus pandemic zoomed to 7,745. At least 274 people succumbed to death in last 24 hours. Maharashtra registered the highest number of fatalities in India. The death toll in Gujarat topped 1,300 on Tuesday.

Tripura reports its first COVID-19 death The first casualty due to coronavirus was reported in Tripura on Tuesday.
The man has been identified as Biswa Kumar Debbarma had suffered a stroke (CVA) and was a patient of hypertension, informed Deb.
The Chief Minister said, “Unfortunate to share that Mr. Biswa Kumar Debbarma, a COVID19 patient from West Tripura, is no more. Our Doctors gave their best but failed to save his precious life.”
