Traditional Kharchi Puja begins in Tripura

The seven days long traditional Kharchi puja began from Saturday at the Chaturdasha Temple, Fourteen God Temple, at khayerpur.

The annual festival of worship of Fourteen Gods popularly known as Kharchi Puja in Tripura .

Of the many festivals in the hilly northeast Indian state, Kharchi Puja occupies the pride of the place.

The worship began with the dipping of 14 deities in the Howrah River.

Every year it is celebrated with overflowing enthusiasm in June-July. In fact, Tripura is also known as the land of Fourteen Gods.

However, in view of the COVID-19 cases in Tripura, the “mela” usually organised in connection with the traditional “Kharchi Puja” is stalled this year.
