Tripura government has announced complete lockdown on Sunday, July 5, exempting emergency services from the restrictions imposed, announced Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
The one-day lockdown, inspired by the Janata curfew held on March 22, would begin from 5 am on Sunday and would end at 5 am the next day, said chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a video message.
“We have declared a complete lockdown in the state on July 5 as we are in stage I of Covid-19 outbreak. We need to prepare for stage 2 and 3. So, I request people to stay indoors and make this one-day lockdown a success like the one-day Janata Curfew on March 22 this year,”said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
Tripura government on Tuesday has announced to hold 24-hour lockdown on July 05 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Speaking to reporters at the state secretariat, minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “We are in a good position in term of Covid-19 but we don’t want to take any risk and would intensify restrictions in containment zones”.
He also said that the state government was compelled to announce the lockdown for the sake of 37 lakh people of Tripura.
