After Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra got an eviction notice from the government, the Congress said that the threat perception of the Gandhi family has not changed. They are still Z plus protectees and only the protection agency has been changed from the SPG to another agency, the party said.
Priyanka Gandhi was allotted government accommodation at 35, Lodhi Estate, a type 6B house.
Seven months after BJP government withdrew SPG cover from the Gandhi family, the Centre has asked Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to vacate her Lodhi Estate government accommodation within a month.
The directorate of estates has served a notice to Vadra to vacate her 35 Lodhi Estate, a Type VI bungalow, by August 1. The notice reads, “Consequent upon withdrawal of SPG protection and grant of Z+ security cover by ministry of home affairs, which does not have provision for allotment/ retention of government accommodation on security grounds to you, the allotment of Type VIB House number 35, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi is hereby cancelled wef 01.07.2020. One month concessional period on the same rent, i.e. upto 01.08.2020 is allowed as per rules,” the notice signed by deputy director (estates) G P Sarkar reads.
Following the eviction notice issued by the Centre to Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi to vacate the bungalow Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday staged massive protest at Agartala.
Protesting the move, the TPCC members burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
Tripura Congress has criticized the Centre’s move to evict Priyanka, claiming that this was being done to intimidate her and the party.
Tripura Congress Leader & Ex PCC president and ex CLP leader Gopal Roy in his statement said “Priyanka is not only G.S.AICC but also daughter of our late PM Rajiv Gandhi, Same threats till prevailing on Sonia Gandhi Rahul Gandhi & Priyanka Gandhi. I condemn the unwarranted politically motivated step taken by failure Narendra Modi”..
