India has logged 60,963 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours with 834 deaths, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday morning. The total number of cases in the country has now shot up to 23,29,638 with 46,091 deaths. A total of 16,39,599 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the infection, taking the recovery rate to 70.37 per cent, the ministry said today.
The country’s COVID-19 mortality rate dropped below 2 per cent for the first time since the first lockdown, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday evening. The announcement came after a virtual conference between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministers of 10 of the worst affected states.
India’s mortality rate has fallen to 1.99 per cent, the health ministry said on Tuesday morning.
