Tripura Police arrest hundreds of 10323 terminated teachers amid protests
As per the prohibitory order issued on Tuesday by Dr Shailesh K Yadav, District Magistrate and Collector, the prohibition will remain in force for a period of 24 hours with effect from 6 am of today.
Section 144 of CrPC prohibits the gathering of four or more people in an area.
Following the arrest of over 150 teachers at Paradise choumuhani today morning, the protestors marched towards the CM’s residence but were prevented by security forces from going any further.
The agitating teachers blocked the road leading to the CM’s residence, shouting slogans with the national flags in their hands.
Tripura police resorted to lathi-charge, tear gas shelling and fired water cannons at the protesting sacked 10323 teachers in Agartala.
The District Magistrate of West Tripura District had imposed section 144 in Agartala from Wednesday morning to control the situation.
