India and Bangladesh shares one of the most complex borders in the world & the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries are supplementing each other’s efforts for effective Border Management.
Border Security Force (BSF) is organizing a ‘Maitree Cycle Rally’ all along Indo-Bangladesh Border, which started on 10th January 2021 from Zero Point Panitar, 24 North Parganas District, West Bengal and is going all along the border of BSF Frontier South Bengal, North Bengal, Guwahati, Meghalaya, Mizoram & Cachar, Tripura and will be concluding on 17th March 2021 (Birth date of Banga Bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rehman) at BSF Border Out Post Silkore, Mizoram, after 66 days. Above Cycle Rally is passing through the States viz. West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram.
The purpose of this ‘Maitree Cycle Rally’ by BSF is to promote confidence in border population on either side of the International Boundary as well as to create deterrence among the trans-border criminals. Besides it, also intends to promote comradeship, sportsman spirit, Co-operation and mutual trust between BSF troops and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
BSF Tripura is organizing various programs in bordering areas to felicitate the Cyclists involving the BGB, the local State Officials, school children and border population for better mutual cooperation, coordination and understanding.
On 38th day i.e. 16th Feb 2021 at about 0930 hrs, above Maitree Cycle Rally arrived at BSF BOP Peerachera, (166 Bn BSF) under PS- Kadamtala, Sub Division- Dharmanagar, District- North Tripura from Assam side. During reception ceremony, Shri Rajiv Kumar Dua, DIG BSF Panisagar along with eminent Civil Dignitaries, School Children and members of Lions Club amiably welcomed the Cyclists of the Rally. A program was also organized at LCS Manughat, District Unakoti (Tripura), which was also attended by senior officers of BGB.
The Maitree Cycle Rally will be proceeding further to different locations of Tripura State during the above mentioned period upto 27th Feb 2021, where several programs are scheduled to be organized.
While ensuring the peace, harmony and tranquility on the Indo-Bangladesh International border, BSF Tripura is also determined to make this “Maitree Cycle Rally” a great success.
