Border Security Force is organising series of events to mark the 50 year of Independence of Bangladesh and to highlight the contribution made by BSF in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

In this endeavour, one ‘Maitree Cycle Rally’ was organised all along the border roads under “Eastern Command of BSF, which received overwhelming response from all sections including the border population living on the either side of IB, the counterpart BGB, local administration and also all media friends.


In another such initiative, “BSF-BGB Maitree Football Match Series” are going to be organised in all six Frontiers of Eastern Command BSF, during coming months. It is a well known fact that Football is the most popular sport in the entire Eastern and North Eastern part of India as well as in Bangladesh and such events on the border will further boost the spirit of sportsmanship and confidence among the border populace on both sides of the International Boundary.

The First such “Football Maitree Match” of this series will be conducted on 18th March 2021 at 0900 hrs at Brijendra Kishor Football Stadium, Belonia, District South Tripura.

  • The Second Match will be conducted by BSF South Bengal Frontier at Berhampore, District Murshidabad, West Bengal on 26th March 2021 on the Independence Day of Bangladesh.
  • The Third Football Match will be conducted by BSF Frontier Mizoram & Cachar (M&C) at Karimganj Town on 03d April 2021.
  • The Fourth Football Match will be conducted by BSF North Bengal Frontier at Sonamati on 14th April 2021 on the occasion of Bangla New Year.

The Fifth Football Match will be conducted by BSF Meghalaya Frontier at Tura on 24 April 2021.

• The Sixth & Concluding Match will be conducted by BSF Guwahati Frontier at Dhubri on 1st May 2021.

The purpose of organising all such friendly sports events is to enhance co-operation and goodwill between the two Border Guarding Forces i.e. BSF & BGB and also to increase the friendly relationship between the people residing in the bordering areas. their BGB Football team and spectators to witness this prestigious event. This gesture from BGB will definitely further strengthen the everlasting bonding between the two Forces of friendly Nations.

During the above matches, various cultural programmes, Dog Shows, Band Display and other events are being organised to make it more vibrant & interesting.
