Second Phase of Bru resettlement begins today in Tripura
The Second phase of the process of shifting the Bru refugee families from Kanchanpur has started from today.
The Centre, Tripura, and Mizoram and Bru leaders earlier have signed an agreement with the Bru/Reang community that promises to end their 24-year-old internal displacement crisis.
The Second Phase of resettlement of Bru tribal refugees, sheltered in seven relief camps in northern Tripura, started on Monday.
Under the agreement , the centre has announced a package of Rs. 600 crore under this agreement. As per the agreement the Bru tribes would be given land to reside in Tripura.
Buses carrying refugee families left Kanchanpur today, said Sub- divisional magistrate.
A total of 97 families were shifted to Dhalai district today.
