24-hour strike called by IPFT underway in TTAADC

A 24-hour general strike was called in the Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) by the IPFT, the ruling BJP’s partner in the Tripura government, on Saturday in protest against the attack on its president and revenue minister N C Debbarma and party MLA Dhirendra Debbarma in separate incidents in the last two days.

Revenue Minister Narendra Chandra Debbarma was attacked in Jampujala on Wednesday.

The strike was called in protest against the attack carried out on two party MLAs, including IPFT supremo & revenue minister NC Debbarma, in his constituency on Wednesday.

Supporters of TIPRA in the Jampuijala area on Wednesday showed black flags to IPFT supremo NC Debbarma and raised slogans “go backhundreds of people waved black flags and shouted ‘go back” slogans after Debbarma had reached the community hall at Takarjala yesterday afternoon to address a party meeting of IPFT.

The IPFT blamed royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman’s party TIPRA Motha for the incident and alleged that the crowd was politically.

Hundreds of people waved black flags and shouted ‘go back” slogans after Debbarma had reached the community hall at Takarjala yesterday afternoon to address a party meeting of IPFT.

The IPFT blamed royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman’s party TIPRA Motha for the incident and alleged that the crowd was politically motivated.

TIPRA Motha chairperson and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma have suspended the main culprit Sarna Tripura from the party membership and also handed him over to police.

TIPRA Motha chairperson Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma said Sarna Tripura had joined TIPRA Motha just three weeks before elections from IPFT.
