Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu Wins India’s First Medal At Tokyo Olympics, Bags Silver In Women’s 49kg

Mirabai Chanu created history by clinching India’s first silver medal in weightlifting in Olympics’ history. Chanu won the medal in the 49kg category.

Mirabai Chanu opened India’s medal count by winning silver in the 49kg women’s weightlifting.

Ace weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu opened India’s medals tally on Saturday as she bagged a silver in the Women’s 49kg category at Tokyo International Forum. Chanu lifted a total of 202 kg (87kg in snatch and 115kg in clean and jerk) during her four successful attempts across the competition.
