TMC activists arrested in Tripura for violating COVID norms
At least 11 leaders and workers of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), including those injured in an alleged attack by BJP workers on the previous day, were arrested in Tripura’s Khowai district on Sunday for ‘violating COVID norms’, police said.
Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee rushed to Agartala today, a day after his party alleged that its members had been injured after being attacked by members of Tripura’s ruling BJP.
Those injured are party leaders and workers such as Debangshu Bhattacharya, Sudip Raha, and Jaya Dutta from West Bengal.
They were attacked Ambassa in Tripura’s Dhalai district, according to Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh.
The party had said that TMC leaders were arrested.
The BJP, meanwhile, blamed TMC for creating ruckus in a “peaceful place” like Tripura.
