Trinamool Reschedules Rally; Tripura Police Denied Permission

Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee had planned to hold a roadshow in Tripura’s Agartala on September 15.

However, the Tripura police denied permission saying that another party is already organising a mass rally in Agartala on the same day and on the same route.

TMC General Secretary Kunal Ghosh tweeted that the rally will be held on September 16.

Hours after the decision by Tripura police, Trinamool general secretary Kunal Ghosh said the mega public rally would be held on September 16.

TMC has sought permission from the Tripura police.

However, the police denied permission for that as well, citing protocols for Vishwakarma Puja.

SDPO in his letter wrote “Your prayer has been examined at length. But, it is regretted that we are not in a position to accord permission for holding rally at Agartala Town on 15/09/2021 on alternative routes as another large scale political gathering is already scheduled on the same day at Agartala town. Further, it is not possible to permit for holding of rally on 16/09/2021 since there will be law & order commitment of Police in view of Viswakarma Puja which falls on 17/09/2021,

Viswakarma Puja is celebrated throughout the state in a large scale by different Organizations, Market Committees, individuals and Police/TSR units. Due to our commitments for traffic management and law & order from the pre-puja period, it is not possible to mobilize manpower for covering such huge gathering. Besides, it will cause inconvenience to public”.
