Captain Amarinder Singh resigns as Chief Minister
Captain Amarinder Singh said that he felt “humiliated” by the actions of the Congress party’s national leadership. He made the announcement at a press conference after handing over his resignation to Governor Banwarilal Purohit.
The CM addressed the press outside the Punjab Raj Bhawan.
“I had informed Congress president Sonia Gandhi this morning that I will be tendering my resignation today. The party seemed to have an element of doubt that I could not run the government. I feel humiliated,” said Singh after resigning, adding that he had been summoned thrice over the last two months by the central leadership.
