Charanjit Singh Channi to take oath as Punjab chief minister today

Newly-appointed Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi will have two Deputy Chief Ministers Congress’ state in-charge Harish Rawat said on Sunday evening.

According to an agency report citing sources, one of the CM’s will be a Jat Sikh, while the other one could be from the Hindu community.

Mr Channi, 49, is slated to take oath as Punjab’s 16th Chief Minister today, a few months before the 2022 assembly polls in the state.

He had along with three other ministers rebelled against Amarinder Singh while choosing to side with the camp of state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.
