Tripura Civic polls announced, voting on November 25
The state election commission today declared the date of civic body poll in the state which would be held on 25th November.
The state election commission of Tripura has announced the schedule for polls to the 20 Urban Local Bodies including Agartala Municipal Corporation on Friday along with promulgation of the Model Code of Conduct in the civic body areas spread across 18 out of 23 total subdivisions of the state.
The term of office of the Urban local Bodies (Municipalities) has expired in normal course on 18th December, 2020 but due to COVID-19 Pandemic, the General Election for constitution of new Municipalities couldn’t be held in due time. Consequently, due to improvement in COVID-19 situation in the State, the State Election Commission has decided to conduct the election.
There are 20 (twenty) Municipalities in the State, Consisting of 334 Constituencies, out of which 08 constituencies are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, 85 Constituencies are reserved for Scheduled Castes and out of the total constituencies, 157 Constituencies are reserved for Women.
He also informed that 770 are polling stations.
He said that Notification will be issued on 27 October 2021, Nomination last date will be on 3 November 2021
Scrutiny will be held on 5 November, Withdrawal of nomination is 8 November upto 3.00pm and poll date is 25th November from 7 to 4 pm.
5, 94, 772 persons will caste their vote including 2,93,989 male, 3777 female and 16 others.
