On Wednesday, a senior police officer said that in view of the upcoming assembly elections, Central paramilitary forces have started arriving in Tripura .
He added that 5 companies of CRPF arrived on Tuesday and will be deployed in the districts to perform election-related duties. He also mentioned that 50 more companies are expected to arrive by next 2 days.
Notably, around 100 companies of central paramilitary forces – CRPF, CISF, BSF, ITBP and SSB will be deployed in Tripura to ensure free and fair elections.
He said that the Centre has assigned 100 companies of forces for carrying out free and fair elections. The officer further said, “Around 100 companies of central forces will be available in the state by next week. All the central forces will be deployed in different districts to strengthen security arrangements for the elections”.
The officer added that the district administrations are instructed to provide essential logistics to the central forces.
These additional forces will jointly work with police stations to provide security to political rallies and other election works.
Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and Tripura Police will be deployed to provide security to the VIPs during their election campaigning and they will also have general law and order duties.
