“Fairs and festivals are the tradition of rural culture. Kumarikunda Fair is carrying on this tradition.” Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath said this while inaugurating the two-day long Kumarikunda Fair at Mohanpur’s Gangagattipur in collaboration with the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs and the initiative of Chhatrabrinda Janata Sangh.
Inaugurating the fair, the Agriculture Minister said, “Kumarikunda fair has retained our eternal culture. Even though civilization is modern, the old culture and tradition should not be forgotten.”
He said that the Information and Cultural Affairs Department of the State Government is making continuous efforts to retain the lost culture.
The Agriculture Minister also said, “Such fairs and festivals play a helpful role in the development of the tourism industry. The government has taken initiatives to make religious tourism centers of the state more attractive.”
He added, “Our (government’s) aim is to make Ek Tripura Srestho Tripura (One Tripura Best Tripura), self-reliant Tripura. Therefore, everybody’s cooperation is required.”
